It was a genuine privilege to spend time with the exceptional staff at Fairley House in London, delivering a keynote to staff on resilience.
For more than 40 years, Fairley House has been transforming the lives of young people with Specific Learning Differences (SpLD), creating an environment where every student is understood, supported and empowered to achieve their full potential.
Speaking to such a dedicated team was a reminder that resilience is not simply something we talk about, it is something we demonstrate every day through our actions, our patience and our belief in others. The commitment, compassion and professionalism shown by the staff at Fairley House was inspiring, and it was an honour to share my own journey and explore practical strategies for building resilience in both education and everyday life.
My sincere thanks go to Head Teacher Marc Broughton for the warm welcome and for fostering a culture where both staff and students are encouraged to grow, thrive and embrace challenges with confidence.
Schools like Fairley House are changing lives. It was a privilege to contribute, in a small way, to the professional development of a team whose work has such a profound impact on the young people they support.
Every audience I speak to reinforces the same message: resilience may look different in every profession, but its value is universal. Whether in education, business or sport, developing the skill of resilience enables individuals and teams to adapt, grow and perform at their best, whatever challenges they face.
