A Morning That Inspired Me
There are moments that remind you exactly why you do what you do and this morning at Pennthorpe Prep in Horsham was one of them.
As part of their brilliant Innovation Week, I had the honour of speaking to a room full of young minds about something I’m deeply passionate about: resilience. It’s a skill we all need, especially in today’s fast-changing, unpredictable world and it was an absolute joy to share that message with pupils who were not only attentive, but truly engaged.
What Jon Marler has created for these students goes far beyond conventional thinking. He hasn’t just encouraged innovation, he’s immersed the pupils in it. His vision for their growth is bold, refreshing, and exactly what education should be.
Under the leadership of Chris Murray, this school is clearly doing something special. By embracing creative approaches that put pupils’ personal development front and centre, Pennthorpe is shaping young people who will not only face the future but help lead it.
Walking away today, I felt incredibly inspired, not just by the programme, but by the energy, curiosity, and courage I saw in those pupils.
Days like this remind me why I love speaking… and why teaching resilience is not just important, it’s essential.
