I joined Catherine Williamson on the Gobsmacked podcast which is currently listened to in 128 countries. I discussed courage, recovery, missed chances and the power of a second innings.
I speak openly about living with Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia. Instead of accepting that future, I set out to change it. Raising seventy thousand pounds, travelling to the United States for pioneering surgery, and committed to an intense programme of rehabilitation.
In this conversation I describe the moment everything changed, the shock of the diagnosis, the graft of recovery, and the quiet resolve that helped me learn to walk again, albeit with crutches. I share the joy of completing a five kilometre run only months after operation. I candidly take about regret, resilience, family and faith which makes this episode one of the most powerful in the Gobsmacked series.
My story is a reminder that adversity does not decide the ending. What matters is the response. My second innings is to inspire people across the world and my message is simple. Never give up on the idea of a different future.
